This magnificent peak has been long time unexplored, what makes it even more interesting because it has the taste of discovery.
In 1926, Helmut Fritz and Germain Stoller attempted to reach the summit by its south eastern side. Since they did not leave any register, the glory of the first ascent was granted to Wilfrid Fritz, in 1941. The second ascent in 1950, by Douglas Moore, opened the way to obtain more precise data about its topography, fact that increased the possibilities to climb the peak by other routes, with different difficulty levels.
Departure early from La Paz to cross the neighboring city of El Alto and head for Tuni (mule square), where our team of muleteers will be awaiting us. After loading the animals, we set out for a two-hour trek to Chiarkhota lagoon (Base camp).
Day 2: Base camp Janchallani Base camp
Janchallani is a mountain located at 5100 m.a.s.l., fact that does not present a technical problem because it is just a long trek in the altitude, although a good physical condition is required. Janchallani will be useful for acclimatization. After appreciating a magnificent view and enjoying the peace and quietness of this small summit, we descend to our base camp.
Day 3: Base camp Summit Base camp
We leave at dawn attempting to reach the highest summit of this area of Condoriri. Descent to Base camp (Chiarkhota lagoon).
Day 4: Base camp La Paz
This day we take down our camp. Our muleteer service will be awaiting us. After loading the mules, we retrace our steps down to the place our vehicle is awaiting to drive us back to La Paz.
To participate in this tour a good physical condition is required, especially talking about high mountain climbing (altitudes above 5500 m.a.s.l.). This is an ideal route for those initiating in mountain climbing because it does not present further complications; with a good acclimatization chances to reach the summit are many.
